It is estimated that in the U.S. alone, there are more than 60 million individuals, including men, women and children, caught in the Internet pornography trap at some level. Pornography use is having a dramatic impact on their individual lives, families and society as a whole.
There are three fronts in the war against pornography:
1 - Prevention. We applaud and support efforts of software companies and other groups attempting to prevent the flow of pornographic media into homes and companies. We especially commend efforts to keep harmful media away from young children who are defenseless against its harmful effects.
2 - Social awareness. Because pornography is viewed, largely, as acceptable, harmless behavior, it is hard to gain traction in the discussion about its harmful effects. We support organizations and individuals who are heightening awareness and combating what has clearly become an epidemic.
3 - Healing. There simply isn’t enough being done to heal the pornography addict. There hasn’t been enough scientific knowledge to know how to heal. There simply hasn’t been enough information, training, expertise and skills among clergy, clinicians, counselors and coaches and the medical community to provide the needed cures. We believe that now there is.
